The first time I wanted to go to KRTW I signed up but never went.  I was afraid and didn’t know what to do or how to act.  It was weird.  An event with all diabetics!?  I told myself that I had to go and face my fear.  I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.  At orientation I came by myself, sat by myself, but had a good time!  I don’t know really know why.  Maybe it was because I won Dodgers tickets, but that’s not all.  I think it’s because I found out a lot more about the program, and how people really care and take the effort to make things possible for others.  So an event like this should not be taken for granted! I know from experience!  The environment and surroundings are spectacular!  I met many new friends, and since I had so much fun, I wanted to continue in KRTW.  So being seventeen, I became a Jr. Counselor.  I still didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I didn’t care this time, because the event was so touching and FUN that I wanted to be part of KRTW somehow! Getting involved with the staff and counselor members, I saw a different perspective.  I saw how happy these staff members and counselors got when the found out how many of you kids could attend such an event after all of their incredible effort!  Like they say….the more the merrier!  So, if you were to think about not attending, think again, not only about yourself but the fact that you can make a difference in others lives.  Just by attending you’ll see how amazing this program can make you and others feel! The littlest thing can make a big impact! This was all expressed from going to KRTW only once.  It will change you and how you feel about diabetes in a positive way.  So with all that said…please come!

Jennifer, 17 years old
